Travel Prep and How I do it

December 6, 2023

Making travel arrangements is probably the single most time consuming thing professional poker players do outside of poker.

Like most everything I do I created a very handy checklist. It's simple and easy to follow.

1. Location of series

2. Dates of series and tournaments I want to play

3. Hotels near tournament site. (I absolutely hate staying on site. I usually stay at Motel 6, if a short stay. If a week or more, I stay at either Home2Suites by Hilton or Homewood Suites by Hilton)

4. Walmart or Food Store nearby. (I tend to make my own meals and not rely on DoorDash)

5. Flights (as a last resort I fly)

6. Amtrak or Greyhound

7. Uber or Lyft

With regard to hotels, if I am in area for more than 7 days, I use Home2Suites or Homewood Suites. Both are Hilton properties. I collect Hilton Honors points too even when using Lyft!!

I like the 2 Hilton properties because I can cook my own meals there. This is a huge money saver.

As far as flights, I am not a fan of The TSA. Since I am transgender, they think it's perfectly okay to grab my crotch!!!!

Yes, Greyhound and Amtrak take longer but less hassle with TSA.
